Art Hindle stars as hot young rookie Billy Duke, who comes to Toronto from a small Ontario town to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs and couch Fred Wares (John Vernon). His aggressive play shakes up both the league and local folk rocker Sherri Lee Nelson (Trudy Young), who digs Duke off the ice but can't handle his violent profession. Decades later Face Off's rare vintage game footage is an archive in itself with on ice cameos by Bobby Orr, Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe and others integrated into the story. Supporting players George 'The Chief' Armstrong and bad boy Derek 'Turk' Sanderson have actual speaking parts! For hockey fans, it's a Leaf Story as much as it's a love story!
