Though their material was sung in a Dixie drawl and three members were genuine Southerners, Dr. Hook started out as a New Jersey bar band chosen to provide musical accompaniment for whimsical cartoonist/composer/poet Shel Silverstein. Led by one-eyed vocalist Ray Sawyer and main songwriter Denis Locorriere, the band went on to score further success with their own humor-laced compositions. This concert film captures Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show at their creative peak, performing live renditions of classic songs like 'Sylvia's Mother,' 'Freakin' at the Freaker's Ball,' and 'The Cover of the Rolling Stone' with all their trademark bawdiness intact. ; ; Tracks; 01.
